Canadian Youth Workers' Conference

Just a heads-up that the Canadian Youth Workers' Conference (CYWC) is fast approaching again.  This event hosted by YS (Youth Specialties) is an amazing opportunity to get some training; be led in worship; receive spiritual direction; meet with other youth leaders in CBWC & beyond; and talk about issues you face when trying to communicate the love of Jesus to teenagers. 

This year the Conference runs from Thurs,3rd-Sun,6th Dec 2009 at the Sheraton Wall Centre in Vancouver.  We want as many of our youth leaders and volunteers in our CBWC churches as possible to have the opportunity to attend.  As such we have a number of bursaries available and the possibility of cheaper accommodation at the Carey Centre.

Important Dates for 2010

Mini Semester (for those pursuing ordination in summer 2010) will take place at the Carey Centre.  Sun, 24th Jan - Thurs, 28th Jan 2010.

NPO (New Pastors' Orientation) is now 3 days and will take place at the Carey Centre from Sun, 18th Apr (beginning in the evening) until Wed, 21st April.  [The Baptist Identity Course will be offered online in 2010.  Contact Axel Schoeber (course instructor) or Myrna Sears (Carey Registrar) for more information].

OEC (Ordination Examining Council) will take place at the Carey Centre prior to the Annual Gathering/Assembly.  OEC is Wed, 30th June and Thurs, 1st July.

Annual Gathering/Assembly will take place in Vancouver, Fri 2nd July - Mon, 5th July.

SERVE 2010 will take place in Flin Flon, MB from 11th-17th July 2010.

YSOneDay 2009

YSOneDay (previously 'The CORE') is back.  This year Youth Specialties is offering intense training sessions for Youth Leaders, focussing on how to handle Scripture.  The workshops include:
 
- Tons of ideas to help your students experience Scripture
- Renewed insight into the living and active Word of God.
- Tools to dig deeper into the Bible in order to understand and apply it to your life
- A fresh approach to using Scripture to explain the whole story of God to your students.

Courses are advertised at $45US (if registering prior to Feb 13th) or $55US for normal registration.  As YS Partners, we as Canadian Baptists receive a discounted rate.  To take advantage of the rate contact your local YLT rep or the Youth Director.  A code will be given to you, which you can then use when registering.
 
For BC leaders, the closest YSOneDay takes place in Surrey on Sat, March 7th.
For AB & SK leaders, YSOne Day takes place in Calgary, on Sat, April 18th.
For MB leaders, the closest YSOneDay takes place in Moorhead, MN on Sun, Mar 29th.
